Safeguarding & Child Protection

St Clement’s is committed to the safeguarding, care, and nurture of the children and people of all ages in our church community.

Risk of immediate harm

If you have information about a safeguarding situation where a child or adult is in immediate danger, or requires immediate medical attention, call emergency services on 999.

Concern but not immediate risk

If you do not think that a child or vulnerable adult is at immediate risk of harm you should telephone the county council on 0345 050 7666 and follow option 1, to speak to a safeguarding professional. Out of hours, you can call the Emergency Duty Team on 0800 833 408

You are also welcome to talk to the Parish Safeguarding Officer safeguarding@stclements.org.uk, or to the Rector if you  have concerns about church safeguarding. They have access to advice through the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.

All volunteers in St Clement’s who have contact with children, young people or vulnerable adults, are legally required to go through the safer recruitment process, even if they have been recruited for a similar role in the workplace.

This includes an interview, signing a Confidential Declaration form, providing two referees who will be contacted to provide safeguarding references and having an enhanced DBS check every three years, appropriate to the role.

Church of England online safeguarding training must be completed prior to starting the role, and updated every three years.

Parochial Church Council members must also complete DBS checks and safeguarding training.

Contact the Safeguarding Officer to find out more.
