Meet our staff team

We have a small staff team at St Clement’s Church, led by our Rector Mark Hay. Find out a little about them here.

Mark Hay

Rector

In April this year I became the Rector here at St Clement’s. I was brought up in Oxford, and return after 30 years.

After starting out as a teacher, I was a Worship Pastor, before training for ordination. For the past ten years I’ve been at St Mary’s Poole, where I was curate and then Associate Vicar.

I’m happiest when doing anything to do with music, football, books, mountain walking or food! I’m married to Kate, have two adult children and a Labrador called Coco.

Joanna Tarassenko

Curate

I joined St Clement’s in July 2021, having trained for ordination at Ridley Hall in Cambridge. I wrote my thesis on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s musical theology of the Holy Spirit.

Before training for ordination I taught theology and previously worked in the charity sector supporting ex-offenders.

I’m married to Luke and we have two children. Luke and I are keen gamers (among other things!).

Beth Ruckman

Children and Families’ Worker

Hello! I’ve been our Children and Families’ Worker since 2021. Before this I studied for my BA Hons in Theology at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, specialising in Children’s and Families Ministry.

I got married at St Clement’s in 2023 to Reuben, and we live just outside Oxford with our kitten, Winnie. I love all things books and films, (anything with a good story!) and you’ll often find Reuben and me sitting down to play a board game or two with lots of cups of tea.

Colin Dobson

Parish Administration Manager

I’m our Parish Administration Manager – the person you’ll hear from if you contact the Parish Office. I’ve been worshipping at St Clement’s for seven years and am a lifelong resident of Oxford.

I write a column for the local paper, enjoy travelling and walking and believe that a person can never have enough books. I’ve been enormously blessed in my life by living with two cats who have lived over 21 years.

Susie Dowsett

Youth Worker

I’ve only recently joined St Clement’s (August 2024). I grew up in Sunderland before moving to Oxford to study for a degree. Since graduating last year I’ve been on a Ministry Experience Scheme at a church in Washington (Tyne and Wear, not D.C.) with a focus on youth work. One of my hobbies is cross-stitch and I’m currently working on a world map.
